Yalova University, the Department of New Media and Communication, organised an orientation program for the first-year students who have recently joined the department. Prof. Dr. Esra Çizmeci Ümit, Dr. Faculty Member Banu Ezber Sayar, Dr. Faculty Member Tahsin Eren Sayar, Dr. Faculty Member Demet Yalçın, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yavuz Küçükalkan, and Research Assistant Ece Nur Kaya Yıldırım participated in the program.
As part of the program, students were informed about the educational process in the New Media and Communication Department. In the program aimed at helping students adapt to university life and their department, academic studies they may encounter in the department, the methods of course delivery, and practical training processes were discussed.
It was conveyed to the students that throughout their educational lives, they would encounter not only theoretical courses but also new media, communication, digital content production, and practical studies. It was stated that as the class levels progress, the scope of the courses and studies would change, and that students would be able to develop the knowledge they have acquired through different projects and applications.
In the orientation program, information was also shared about the academic processes that students may encounter throughout their university education, and the importance of working in professional fields and producing projects in the later years was emphasised. When the students approach graduation, general evaluations were made about the different fields of work where they can use the knowledge and experience they have gained.
The program aimed to help first-year students get to know their department better, gain insights into the educational process, and adapt more easily to university life.
