Prof. Dr. Esra Cizmeci Ümit, a faculty member in the New Media and Communication Department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Yalova University, participated in the program titled 'About Women' organised by VIP Academy & Consultancy at Bursa Podyum Davet.
In the program attended by Prof. Dr. Esra Cizmeci Ümit, VIP Academy & Consultancy Education Coordinator Özden Yaman, and Turkish Women's Union Bursa Branch President Tijen Sözeri, the struggles of women in social life, the obstacles they face in the business world, and the pressures they encounter in the digital age were discussed.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Esra Cizmeci Ümit, who drew attention to the representation of women in the digital world, stated that the image of women created on social media does not align with reality, saying, "We now live two different lives." One is real, the other is digital. But although these two worlds may seem similar, they are actually quite different. Algorithms silently tell us: 'If you are like this, you will be visible.' "Younger, well-groomed, and flawless-looking women are being highlighted more." "This creates serious pressure on women," she stated.
